Cumbria Rural Housing Trust is a charity which researches the housing needs in rural areas of Cumbria and campaigns for affordable housing to be provided where it is needed.
We use information from housing needs surveys and other research to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the housing issues in Cumbria at a local and national level and to promote the social, economic and environmental benefits of affordable housing for rural communities.

Cumbria Choice
Cumbria Choice – the Choice Based Letting system which advertises Housing Association properties throughout Cumbria. The system allows people who are registered to apply for properties when they become available.
Those in need of affordable housing in Cumbria should complete an application to register for housing on Cumbria Choice.
Once you are registered, you will then be assessed and placed in a Band according to your circumstances and level of housing need. It is important that if your situation changes, you update your details as your Band may be changed.
It is vital for those in housing need to be registered on the system, as when properties become available and are advertised on the website, there is only a short period (5 days) in which to apply. These households in need may be, for example, young people wanting to set up home, families needing larger accommodation, or older households requiring a more accessible home.
