Visit to Glendale Gateway Trust - CLT newsletter March 2009

E-mail Print PDF

Please find a copy of the new Cumbria Community Land Trust newsletter which I hope you will find useful and perhaps inspiring. The newsletter reports on the visit by Cumbrian communities and Officers to look at the diverse success of Glendale Gateway Trust, and looks at the ability of CLTs to create long lasting local regeneration by featuring a small number of well established schemes. It is also intended as a mini resource for those interested by signposting events, sources of support and funding, answering FAQs, linking to the national CLT forum, and taking a look at specialist topics such as self-build. Crucially the newsletter highlights the need for easier access to capital grant support for community organisations, pointing to the Community Land Fund, Scotland, set up specifically to provide loans and grants in a form accessible to community organisations, and which has enabled communities to acheive so much. Other items include:

  • Cumbrian community updates
  • April Workshops for communities
  • Continuation of support in Cumbria
  • Eco build info & contacts
  • London Conference, June 2009

If you are a community group or representative, or a Local Authority or other organisation who would like to know more you are welcome to get in touch regards workshops or presentations on how CLTs work, or help in getting steering groups started, carrying out feasibility work etc. If you think you might be able to help in some way - creating better access to grant, making site suggestions or offers, with an idea for a legacy for community benefit or something else, it would also be great to hear from you.

Best wishes

Andy Lloyd
